Current users may review our tips for updating to Evernote 5 for Windows Desktop.
Browsing and creating notes
Better note list
Your Notes List now displays one list of all notes from your personal, joined, and Business Notebooks. The menus on the top of the Note List make it easy to sort notes, change your note layout, or filter notes using notebook or tag selectors.
Browse notes with the new Card view, which displays your notes as a list of informative, easy to scan, and visually appealing Cards.
The note editor now frames your content beautifully and expands as needed to fit your content. For distraction-free composition and editing, you can use the full-screen single note view by double-clicking on a note in your note list.
Select text with the new highlighter to emphasize what's important in a web clip or your notes.
We've made it easy to add or change the metadata associated with your note. Just click on the "i" in the Note Editor and a flyout will appear to let you edit your note’s information.
Premium Feature Related Notes
As soon as you start viewing or editing a note, Evernote checks to see if there are any notes in your account that relate to what you’ve written. Evernote displays these Related Notes below the note editor.
Beautiful notes from Evernote Clearly
Evernote Clearly makes blog posts, articles and webpages clean and easy to read. Evernote for Windows Desktop will now display all your Clearly articles with beautiful formatting for an ideal reading experience.
Reminders keep track of what's important
Reminders call attention to a note
With Reminders, it's easy to keep track of important notes, keep your team updated on collaborative projects and get everything done on time. Set a Reminder to pin a note to the top of your note list, then cross it off when it's complete.
Get notified with alarms
When you add a timed alarm to your Reminders, you will be notified when a note is due by an alert that pops up on your screen and even in a daily email.
Atlas is a brand new way to visually explore your notes in Evernote. Evernote helps you remember where you were when you took notes to help you have richer, more vibrant memories. Evernote Atlas reads the location where your notes were created and intelligently presents them to you on Place Cards based upon their proximity to each other.
Click on any card to see flags with numbers representing all the notes in that location. Pan and zoom to see more or fewer notes then click on a flag to see the associated notes. To see notes created near your current location, click the compass icon.
TypeAhead search suggestions
With TypeAhead suggestions, Evernote’s Search is more powerful than ever. It gives suggestions based upon the words and phrases frequently used in your Evernote account.
Search Joined notebooks
Search results now show notes both from all personal, Joined and Business Notebooks at the same time.
Saved Searches can be Shortcuts
You can drag Saved Searches from the search menu into your Shortcuts for easier access.
