For most things you want to accomplish, there’s the work that makes the journey fulfilling. Then there’s the less interesting stuff—like chasing down information, entering data, and switching contexts—that make work feel like work. At Evernote, we’re always thinking of ways to help you focus on what matters most. Our latest updates help you tackle repeating to-dos with less effort, find what you need faster, and take action in the app with fewer keystrokes, clicks, or taps.
Make your recurring tasks easier to tackle
Whether it’s daily journaling, your monthly expense report, or remembering to book Fido’s yearly vet visit, so much of what you do has to get done more than once. To help make sure repeating to-dos don’t sneak up on you, Tasks in Evernote now allows you to set up recurring tasks.
One of your most requested features, recurring tasks let you schedule a due date and reminder once, with the option to make them repeat. When you mark a recurring task as done, Evernote automatically resets to the next due date for you.
Need to prepare for a team stand-up every Monday morning? Always forgetting your annual resume update? Want help remembering to buy family birthday presents—so they arrive before the party? Whatever you need to do on a regular basis, recurring tasks can help you make it happen without the busy work of manually setting due dates and reminders over and over again.
Take action in Evernote, right from your iOS home screen
Ever had inspiration strike at an inconvenient time? Maybe you’re in the grocery store minding your own business when BAM! The perfect idea for the big project you’re working on pops into your head. You could head to the stationery aisle and, uh, liberate a pen and pad to jot it down or you can capture it faster with Evernote’s iOS widgets.
All of our latest widgets can help you tap less and do more:
- Actions Bar: One tap starts a new note, opens the camera, or creates a new task. Perfect for capturing fleeting ideas and moments before they slip away. You can even search for an existing note right from the widget.
- Notes List: See a list of recently updated notes right on your home screen. A single tap takes you directly into the note of your choice, so you can access existing information and add new content in fewer steps.
- Tasks List: Check in with your tasks at glance and open any task to access its details with—you guessed it—just one tap. Note that the Tasks List widget is available for Personal, Professional, and Teams accounts.
Linking just got easier
Chances are you add links to your content so often that it’s become second nature. But when you think about all the on-screen navigation it takes, it’s actually pretty cumbersome. Maybe you know how to cast the magical linking spell: Ctrl + K or Cmd + K, but now there’s an even more intuitive way: copy, highlight, paste.
Simply copy a URL, highlight the text in your note you want to link, select ‘Paste,’ and voila—link added. We love how much time it saves, and we think you will too.
If you like stacks, you’ll love this
Stacks are a great way to organize related notebooks, but now there’s a way to find the information in your stacks faster: filter by stack when searching within Evernote or using the filtered notes widget.
Filtering by stacks is a quick way to narrow down your search and help you find what you need with less guesswork. Note that this functionality is not available for Teams customers yet, but we’re working on it.
And that’s not all
That’s just a quick look at the highlights from our most recent updates. There’s a lot more where this came from. We’ll let you know when our next round of improvements is ready for prime time. Until then, update to the current version of Evernote on all of your devices to make sure you have access to the latest and greatest.
