Your notes are more than information; they’re extensions of yourself. The billions of notes stored in Evernote contain your most important ideas, projects, and memories. Keeping them safe for you is a tremendous responsibility. Today, we’re introducing an updated privacy policy, taking effect on July 3, that gives us the ability to improve your Evernote experience while maintaining our three laws of data protection:
- Your data is yours
- Your data is protected
- Your data is portable
At the same time, we’ve made our privacy policy simpler and easier to read, to make it even clearer that you are in control of deciding who can see your content. As a global business, we’ve also aligned our policy to comply with the Swiss-US and EU-US Privacy Shield Frameworks.
As we developed our new policy over the past few months, we worked closely with privacy experts including the Future of Privacy Forum and Center for Democracy and Technology. We also sought and received valuable input from customers like you, and I want to personally thank everyone who gave us feedback.
We believe the revised policy will make it easier to understand how Evernote handles your notes and data. Please continue to share your comments and feedback on our community forums. We’re listening, and always striving to build the best Evernote for you.
