Frequently Asked Questions
The Free Mermaid Chart Maker is an AI-driven feature in Evernote that generates a Mermaid diagram from a natural-language description. You describe the chart in plain text (you can optionally upload a PDF for context), and the tool creates a diagram file that is saved into Evernote as an editable Mermaid note for rendering and further editing in the Evernote client.
You provide a plain-language description of the diagram you want, and the tool generates a diagram from that description. Optionally attach a PDF to give additional context. After generation, the diagram is saved into Evernote as an editable Mermaid note; rendering and editing happen in the Evernote client where the Mermaid source can be modified or copied.
Anyone with access to Evernote can use the Free Mermaid Chart Maker to generate diagrams from text descriptions. It’s designed for people who need visualizations quickly—product managers, designers, students, or anyone sketching processes and structures—and works as part of the Evernote workflow where the generated Mermaid note is edited and rendered in the Evernote client.
The tool supports several diagram families that are converted to Mermaid source and saved in Evernote: flowchart, mindmap, sequence, entity-relationship, Gantt, class, and pie charts. These are generated from your text description and then opened as editable Mermaid notes in the Evernote client so you can review and refine the diagram.
Yes. You can optionally upload a PDF to provide additional context for the diagram generation. The AI can use that document to better understand structure, data, or sequence details. After generation, the resulting diagram is saved as an editable Mermaid note in Evernote, where you can open, render, and modify it in the Evernote client.
Once generated, the diagram is saved inside your Evernote account as an editable Mermaid note. That note holds the Mermaid source code which you can edit in Evernote’s client. Rendering and interactive editing take place in the Evernote app, and the Mermaid source can be copied or exported for reuse outside Evernote if needed.
Yes. After generation the Mermaid source is saved in Evernote as an editable note. You open that note in the Evernote client to edit the Mermaid text directly. From there you can tweak node names, relationships, timing, or styling. The editable source can also be copied to use elsewhere or exported as an image from Evernote.
No. The Free Mermaid Chart Maker does not accept pasted, typed, or imported Mermaid code as the initial input. It generates diagrams from natural-language descriptions (with an optional PDF). After the diagram is generated and saved in Evernote, the Mermaid source is editable in the Evernote client, so you can paste or modify Mermaid code there.
Yes. After the diagram is generated and the Mermaid note is opened in Evernote, you can export or save a rendered image from the Evernote client. Alternatively, you can copy the editable Mermaid source and use external tools to render or export images if you prefer a specific file format or workflow outside Evernote.
Yes. The Mermaid source saved in the editable Evernote note can be copied and reused elsewhere. While the tool generates diagrams from natural-language descriptions inside Evernote, the resulting Mermaid code is accessible in the client and can be pasted into other editors or exported for inclusion in documents or other workflows.
Absolutely. Once the diagram is saved as an editable Mermaid note in Evernote, you can open it in the Evernote client and refine the Mermaid source. Edits to node labels, relationships, layout hints, or styling can be made directly in the note, and the updated Mermaid source will reflect your changes when rendered in Evernote.
Yes. Sequence diagrams are among the supported diagram families. When you describe a sequence in natural language, the tool can generate a sequence diagram and save it as an editable Mermaid note in Evernote so you can open, edit, and render it in the Evernote client.
Yes. Gantt charts are supported. Describe the timeline, tasks, and durations in your text prompt (or include a PDF for context) and the tool will produce a Gantt diagram saved as an editable Mermaid note in Evernote. You can then open the note to edit dates, tasks, and layout in the Evernote client.
Some diagram styles are not supported by this tool. It does not generate state, sankey, quadrant, user-journey, timeline, use-case, C4, git-graph, or block diagrams. If you need those specific types, you can still create diagrams in Evernote by editing Mermaid source after generation, but they won’t be produced directly by the initial natural-language generator.
There is no live preview on the generator page. After the diagram is generated it is saved into Evernote as an editable Mermaid note and opened in the Evernote client; rendering and editing happen there. This means you’ll make changes inside Evernote to see the rendered result rather than viewing a live preview during the initial generation step.
